The exciting plans for a new medical centre in Norfolk Park will be unveiled this week.
The proposed new premises, which will be located on the junction of Park Grange Road and Beldon Road, will replace the existing Norfolk Park Medical Centre which has outgrown its premises as the patient list size has grown.
The planned state-of-the art facility will allow NHS Sheffield and the staff from Norfolk Park Medical Centre to continue to deliver a high quality service to the local community, and will also enable them to develop these services further from a bigger building with better access and modern therapy and treatment facilities.
There will also be a large multipurpose space that can be used for meetings and group sessions looking at physical fitness, mental wellbeing and healthy lifestyle choices.
Simon Kirk, Director of Strategy for NHS Sheffield, said: “This is a great opportunity for Norfolk Park residents to come and see the plans for the new health centre.
“It’s part of NHS Sheffield’s vision to expand the range of healthcare services in Sheffield and improve access to services for local communities and this new development will help us deliver this for local people.”
The development of the new medical centre is being led by NHS Sheffield as part of the LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) investment programme in Sheffield by NHS Sheffield’s LIFT partner, Community 1st Sheffield.
This will deliver the most significant investment in primary healthcareand community facilities in recent years.
The local community are invited to come along and view the plans and images of the proposed new facility on display on Monday 10th August from 8.30am to 11am and 2pm to 5pm and Tuesday 11th August from 8.30am to 11am and 1.30pm to 5pm at Norfolk Park Medical Centre.
The Norfolk Park team, NHSSheffield and Community 1st Sheffield are keen to hear views and opinions about this exciting development and representatives will be available to answer your questions at the two events so pleasepop along to have your say.
Neil Charlesworth, General Manager of Community 1st Sheffield, said: “We are very excited to be able to show the plans to the local community for what will be a fantastic new health facility for the Norfolk Park area. Along with the other new health centre plans progressing across the City this is an exciting time for our partnership with NHS Sheffield, making their investment plans for improved infrastructure a reality across Sheffield.”
These proposals are expected to be submitted for planning in August 2009 and, subject to the planning approval consent, it is anticipated that construction work will commence on the new premises in early 2010.
