The Sunday Times yesterday published their top 60 Best Green Companies list for 2011 with first time entrant Equity Solutions, the private sector partner of Community 1st Sheffield, taking the 39th spot and 5th place in the category “Small companies (50-249 employees) with low environmental impact”.
The accolade recognises companies in the UK for their exceptional environmental standards, innovation and employee engagement in their green initiatives.
“Competition for places in our top 60 has been intense and the quality of entries has reached the highest standard yet”, said Alastair McCAll, Editor for the Sunday Times Green List in his congratulatory letter to Equity Solutions. “You should celebrate your achievement in qualifying for this list, which is becoming the industry benchmark for environmental performance allied to worker engagement”.
The areas of activities that have been examined include, among many others: investments made to improve company’s environmental performance, green community programs with employee participation, sharing environmental best practice, incentives for sustainable commuting, generating energy on-site by using renewable technology, carbon, energy and water reduction, and many more.
