4 LIFT Schemes Receive Formal Stage 1 Approval

Formal Stage 1 Approval has been given for four new primary care centres to be delivered by the LIFT partnership  in the Norfolk Park, Bluebell, Darnall and Foxhill areas of Sheffield by the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) on the 5th July 2011.

The schemes are now progressing through the NHS approvals process to reach Stage 2 Approval and financial close in early autumn.

Bluebell Medical Centre

The planned medical centre for Bluebell will support the provision of an improved range of services for local people. The existing outdated Bluebell GP surgery will be replaced and will relocate into the new building once completed. In addition, the PCT anticipate providing access to therapy services and minor surgery facilities.

It is intended that group rooms will also be provided which will be bookable for community use.

Foxhill Medical Centre

The outdated Foxhill Medical Centre will be replaced with a new state of the art facility. The LIFT scheme will ease and address current problems of old premises which provide little or no room for expansion of services, by providing a purpose-built medical centre uniting medical, nursing and therapy services.

The new development would also provide the capacity to accommodate a pharmacy and group meeting rooms which can be bookable for community use.

Darnall Health Centre

The proposed new Darnall Community Health Centre will replace the existing centre, provide the ‘hub’ for a number of community health services and will support the provision of an improved range of services for local people.

The new state-of-the-art facility will allow NHS Sheffield and the staff of Darnall Community Health Centre to continue to deliver a high quality service to the local community but from a bigger, purpose-built building.

Norfolk Park Medical Centre

A brand new medical centre will replace the outdated Norfolk Park Medical Centre and will relocate into the new state-of-the-art building once it is completed.

This scheme is part of a priority plan for improving infrastructure and regeneration in the Norfolk area.

The new Norfolk Park Medical Centre will support the provision of an improved range of services for local people and allow staff to continue to deliver a high quality service to the local community.
