The Flowers Health Centre
The Flowers Health Centre opened to the public on 3rd December 2012 to replace the previous outdated Bluebell GP Surgery in High Wincobank which had limited space for expansion of services and poor access for people with disabilities.
Commissioned by NHS Sheffield and delivered by Community 1st Sheffield, the health centre provides a range of medical services, including GP and nursing services, minor surgical procedures and community therapies, whilst also acting as a hub for the local community.
The new facility brings a host of benefits to the local community, including the location of extended health and therapy services under one roof, including a more accessible building which has been purpose-built rather than converted from a residential property, and space for community health services to be co-located with GP services.
Larger clinical group rooms have been located to provide opportunity for community groups to use these spaces as bookable facilities when not in use by the practices, forging strong links with local residents.
