For a second consecutive year, the Sheffield Run4Fun event took place on the 5th August 2009 in Hillsborough Park. The fun run was a part of the Sheffield Play Day which is a free event for children and their families where they can try a vast range of activities throughout the day.
The event was a big hit with over 200 people running, jogging or walking a 1.5km course around the park. Councillor Sylvia Dunkley started the race and later handed out special medals and certificates of achievement to everyone who participated.
Alongside the Run4Fun there was a mini fairground, a climbing wall and other adventurous activities as well as mascots attending from a variety of football clubs, facilities and businesses around Sheffield.
The free community event was sponsored by Community 1st Sheffield, organised by StreetGames with support from Activity Sheffield and delivered by Sport4Life to encourage participation in sport, and raise awareness of healthy living.
